Production Engineer
The candidate will be responsible for providing engineering support and information to our production
departments. The ideal candidate will have some mechanical knowledge ideally from commercial vehicles, plant hire sectors or the body building industry. A willingness to learn and the ability to work to time constraints and customers' specifications is essential.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support Production departments with technical drawings using Solidworks/AutoCAD.
- Work with Production to improve processes and efficiency.
- Use Mechanical Design techniques to stress test components and assemblies using Solidworks.
- Create and modify 3D assemblies to meet customer and production needs.
- Create and design new parts and solutions to solve build issues.
- Support 3rd party manufacturing suppliers with spec and build queries.
- Support the Engineering Manager on ongoing and new Projects.
- Support the Engineering Manager on product development.
- Ensure compliance to industry standards and regulations relating to the products manufactured by the
company. - Undertake other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Mechanical Engineering Qualification(s) is essential
- Minimum 1-year commercial experience
- Working knowledge of Solidworks is essential
- Good organisational skills, time management and administration skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team meeting deadlines where needed
- Ability to solve problems and follow projects through to conclusions
- AutoCAD 2D advantageous
- A working understanding of auto-electrics, hydraulics and chassis’ would be advantageous
Whilst fulfilling the role the successful candidate will be expected to maintain good housekeeping practices and demonstrate responsibility for their personal health and safety and those around them, including risk assessing their work to ensure safe working practices are being carried out and using Personal Protective Equipment as and when appropriate.
An ideal candidate will be professional and self-motivated with a good customer service ethos, the ability to solve problems, and a desire to develop and learn. Communication skills are vital, both in dealing with external and internal customers. An ideal candidate must be confident & flexible enough to work alone and as part of a team. Good organisational skills, time management and administration skills are also vital.
The salary is dependent on experience and qualifications, but will include:
- Basic Hours- 37 hours a week- Monday to Thursday 8.30am- 4.30pm and Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm
