The partnership blends NTM-GB’s real-world recycling expertise with Picker Pals’ story-driven approach. Classrooms receive “Picker Packs” with storybooks, activities, and litter-picking tools, encouraging pupils to take action in school and at home.

The first session, on 12th November at Cleobury Mortimer Primary School, saw Year 4 students become the first official “Picker Pals” group under the partnership. Patrick Jackson, Picker Pals founder, led an interactive morning of storytelling, environmental lessons, and live demonstrations, including the putting-on of the very impressive and colourful Picker Pals cape, which is adorned with all kinds of discarded objects found while litter picking.

The crowning touch? An NTM-GB K-Midi recycling truck rolled into the playground, showing students how bins are lifted, materials compacted, and recycling transported - turning lessons into an unforgettable real-world experience. Teachers noted how quickly students connected classroom learning to practical recycling.

With their Picker Packs, children will now complete neighbourhood and rural litter-picking missions, track progress, and see how small actions make a big difference. By combining imagination with real-world insight, the programme empowers the next generation to become confident, active environmental champions - one inspired child at a time.
